Door Swatch: 50 Original Historic Designs

Submitted by Andy Marshall on February 12, 2009 – 12:13 pmOne Comment

I have often been told by architects and designers that they get great satisfaction and inspiration from seeing an eclectic parade of styles.

The most successful designs often are rooted in a strong mix of architectural nutrients.

So here’s a swatch of doors, indeed a parade of portals –  to enlighten and inform.

The doors here presented were photographed in a manic 4 hour period over in Beverley UK (and there is, apparently a poster of the doorways of Beverley by John Major – not THE John Major).

Here we have the full gamut of architecture neatly cubed and compacted into bitesize portals representing all the different strands of architecture including that ranging from polite Classical to vernacular Gothic.

If you have a door fetish – check out the slick carousel of over 100 doors here
